Our beagles all have a home here for life.
But, occasionally, someone inquires
about an adult beagle that wants to have a 4-legged friend, but does not want to
go through the puppy stages. If the right home comes along, we are interested in
helping to make another family happy.
-
Our adult beagles may be available to a good home, and a
home that is matched with their needs/dispositions.
-
For the right home, most of our adults we would offer
would be possibly free, or possibly a few hundred dollars. Variability is due to age
and training level.
-
We can't offer health guarantees for adult dogs. If a dog
has had any problem, we will disclose it or else plan for him/her to remain
with us for life! If there is any oddity/issue, it
will be explained on his/her web page and/or below.
-
If an adult beagle is listed below as not belonging to
us, we can't represent it properly, so will refer you to that beagle's
actual owner in the information given.
If you would like to be notified when an adult (over 5 years old in this case)
is available,
email us with "adult beagle" in the subject line. I may
not respond to your email until we have a girl available after her spay appointment
is completed, but will save your message
so I can contact you when our girl(s) can be considered for a new family.
Or, consider contacting a beagle rescue in your area,
if there is one! Here's an example...

Wyoming. Former laboratory beagles are sometimes rehabbed and available here!
Adopting Adult Dogs
-
Adopting an older dog has pros and cons.
Puppies are very adaptable, and adapt to new homes very quickly.
Older dogs take much longer to settle in! They are less
enthusiastic about bonding with a new family, so you must be
patient and invest time in gaining their love and developing
confidence in their new homes and lifestyles. It can take a few
weeks or even a few months!
The benefits of not going through puppy chewing/destructive
stages, high energy puppy stages, and the longer-term potty
training are definitely to be appreciated when adopting an
older/mature dog. But, it's important to know that it isn't an
instant transition. If you are expecting a dog that instantly
loves everyone in your family, is 100% potty trained upon
arrival at a new home, or is otherwise a "turn key" pet, neither
a puppy nor a mature dog will be guaranteed to fit the bill for
you.
-
Although our available dogs are not fully senior dogs (or rescue
or shelter dogs), these web pages might still be good to look at
for tips and understanding about adopting a mature dog,
training, bonding, etc.

Available: No adults
currently available.
How much does it cost
to adopt one of our spayed girls?
Sometimes free, sometimes a few
hundred dollars.
-
Occasionally (RARELY), we will raise a
puppy and then decide that she isn't one we will have puppies with. A
young
beagle that is spayed might be priced at $300-$400, depending upon whether
she is potty trained, for example.
-
An older female might be $50 to $200...age
and potty training level are factors that might affect this.
-
We have given a few girls away for free.
To be honest, we will not advertise that a dog is free because of
claims/rumors that people obtain free dogs and sell them to laboratories for
testing or as bait dogs for dog fighting rings. Are these rumors true?
I hope not. But to be safe, we now have adoption fees listed when we have an
adult beagle available.
