Our beagle puppies are able to be registered
in one or more breed associations, depending upon the parents' associations.
We register the litter with an association, but we do not register
individual puppies because that requires that we name the puppy, and also
requires that you transfer the puppy's papers to your name from ours. We
feel most people would like to choose their own name for their puppy, and
this method allows that.
You will receive a registration application
for your puppy. We encourage you to register your puppy, but we do accept that
most people do not. Regardless, please keep the registration application
with your puppy's paperwork throughout his or her life as a record of
his/her birth and original owners.

learn more about each of these associations.
Farther down the page are instructions for
completing your puppy's registration application for the three registries we
normally use.

Tips
Puppies must have a "unique" name. For
example, AKC probably won't let you name your puppy "Snoopy," because it's
already taken. But you might get "Snoopy Perdew" or "Snoopy
Schroeder." :-)
If you aren't sure about your puppy's color,
here are some guidelines:
Tri-colored puppies have 3 colors: black, tan/red/brown, and
white. If your association has multiple options for tri-colored dogs, list
the colors in the order of their greatest coverage area. For example, if
your puppy is mostly white with some black, and a little bit of brown/red,
it would be "white, black, and red."
Chocolates are also tri-colored, so if there is not an
option for "chocolate" on the form, choose tri-colored or brown or red.
Lemon and white puppies are yellow and white, not orange and
white.
Red and white puppies are orange and white in color.
Silver puppies are silver/blue on their backs.
Lilac puppies are usually registered the same as chocolates.
Hare pieds are probably best registered as tan, black, and
white or black, tan, and white (use tan instead of red/brown) or just as tri-colored if that is how
the association offers the option.
Puppies with "freckles" on their legs are "ticked" or have
"ticking."
See our Beagle Color Page
for more info about colors.

Please fill
out the red sections, and
double check the blue sections. For example, if your puppy
has lots of freckles showing up now that he/she is maturing,
you might want to indicate that your puppy is “ticked” in
the markings section. If there
is an error in my sections, please let me know and do not
send the papers in to AKC. I will fix the error
first.
Also,
on the back side (blue section), I have left
some of the New Owner information blank. Some people decide to register
their puppies in one of their children’s names or jointly with their spouse,
and I don’t always have that information.
For the
fastest processing, you can register online. On the front of your
application is a PIN number. You can go to
www.akc.org/dogreg/ and register the puppy quickly.
Be
careful…fixing an error can cost $50. We do not pay to fix errors, so if you
make one, it would be at your cost. :-(
Send
appropriate payment according to the options you chose.

Please
fill out the blank sections. APRI requires that my name and address be
filled out in your own handwriting. It is:

In the
color section, it us usually correct to put Tri-color for most beagle
puppies. Or, you could list their three colors (black, tan, and white) in
the order from the largest to the least % of their body with the color. For
example, a beagle with very little white would be “black, tan, and white,”
while a puppy with lots of white might be “white, tan, and black.” Other
colors we sometimes have are red and white, lemon and white, chocolate tri
colored, and blue tick.
Send
appropriate payment according to the options you chose.
If
there is an error on the form, please let me know and do not send the papers
in to APRI. I will fix the error first.

Choose the color on the left side with
an X or a check mark. Puppies with 3 colors (such as black, red, and white)
will generally be "tri-color-91" for the color option. If your puppy is a
lilac or chocolate/liver tri, you will probably choose tri-color-91 on the
papers. If your puppy has "a few freckles" on its legs, that is also the
best option.
If your puppy has a LOT of freckles on its legs, such as where there are so
many that they nearly touch or cover up the white legs, choose "tri-clr
w/tk-89", which means "tri colored with ticking."
Lemon White-56 and Red White-82 are also offered for puppies colored as
such.
On the back, check "Dog up to 1 year" if
your puppy is not yet a year old. The "Additional Services" are not
necessary in step 3. Do not order an extended pedigree, because our UKC dogs
were originally AKC registered, and so UKC does not have a record very far
back in the ancestry.
Total up the cost of registration and
the options you chose. You can pay them via check or credit card.
On the right, give your dog a name and
fill in your puppy's official owner's information.
