I'm estimating
Bitty to be 11.5 or 12" tall, but it is hard to measure without a wicket. She's
a very small beagle, to say the least. She is heavier now just due to maturity,
but is NOT an overeater here. Most of her life, she has had food available 24/7,
and she is not obese the way many beagles would be if given that opportunity.
She does get heavier than she needs to be, but not terribly obese.
She would be better if fed the correct amount for just her, though, and would
probably be about 16 lbs if properly fed. At age 2, she was 13 lbs, but I felt
she was a little light.
Bitty loves people and would become a cuddler in your home. She will be shy at
first. She is crate trained
but not potty trained. Based upon our experience with beagles like her, crate
training in your home and taking her outside in a timely manner while asking her
for a signal at the door would result in pretty smooth whole-house potty
training.
Because she has always had a doggie door to go outside through when she needs
to, she is definitely trainable. There is a link to potty training an adult dog
at http://crbeagles.com/misc/potty_training.htm
, down low on the page.
I need to take new pictures of Bitty, as the above photo was when she was about
1 1/2 or 2 years old. She has a gray face now.
