There are lots of tips online about introducing puppies
to existing dogs in the home, so I am not going to re-invent the wheel
here. You can go really extremely cautious and slowly, or just plain
bring the puppy home and let them meet if your current dog loves meeting
other dogs.
But, do expect your current dog to growl and snap at times! He has to
teach the puppy how to properly behave, and will use that dog language
to tell the puppy when he's had enough of play time, or when the puppy
should stop nipping/biting him.
One thing that is important is to continue giving your current dog lots
of attention, so he doesn't feel like you are abandoning him and giving
all your love to the puppy.
Also, have a crate for the puppy to spend time in (to
relax and calm down, too) which will give your mature dog a break from
the puppy.
Here are some links with some good/better tips, and a search would also
give you many more good ideas of what to expect and how to best do it.
Take the time to visit these, as some of their tips in the lists are
very good ones.
