Directions

Be cautious of strictly using Mapquest or GPS...their instructions are sometimes incorrect, or may lead you down a MUD road!

Please note the following before you head our way...

  • Call or text us to confirm your arrival time (maybe within 2 hours of your arrival) just in case there has been a last-minute emergency/schedule change with your departure or our family/farm. 712-370-0851.

  • We will ask you to remove your shoes in the house for puppy safety/germ reasons. Puppies naturally want to lick/bite shoes, and that's an excellent way to ingest dangerous germs that have been picked up from public places! Slip on shoes are great if you have a pair.

  • Wear clothes appropriate for visiting a farm. Our driveway is gravel, not paved. Wear something comfortable, as the best place to interact with puppies is to sit on the floor/ground with them.

  • Most people bring cash for the balance of their puppy's price when they come to our house. Visit our "Paying" page for other options.

  • Exemption From Liability: Please be aware that small puppies bite, especially fingers and toes. They soon grow out of this stage of cognitive development, but until then, they do nip/bite! Under Iowa Law (and almost all states' laws), a domesticated animal professional is not liable for damages suffered by, an injury or illness to, or the death of a participant resulting from the inherent risks of domesticated animal activities, pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 673 or similar code. You are assuming the inherent risks of participating in this domesticated animal activity when you interact with, buy or own any animal purchased in the state of Iowa.

  • We are not allowed to let visitors enter our dog's fenced-in areas/homes. This prevents potential contamination of our dogs' homes by germs on visitors' shoes. Also, some insurance companies are canceling homeowners' policies for anyone that raises puppies. We will bring puppies to the kitchen/livingroom, but can't let people go to the kennel/nursery room or out of our yard due to liability.

  • If you bring a dog with you, please keep him/her in your vehicle while at our farm. Young puppies don't have immunity to germs that adult dogs do have immunity to, including some germs that there are no vaccinations for. To keep our current and future puppies safe, we have to keep outside dogs from interacting with our dogs.

If you are planning to visit, or are coming to pick up a puppy, follow these instructions to reach our home.

If you are coming from the South

  • Follow map instructions to reach Maryville, Missouri.
  • From Maryville, go north on Highway 148 toward Bedford, Iowa. You will GET OFF OF HWY 71 as you go around the curve at the northeastern edge of Maryville. If you curve around the north side of Maryville and head west, you have probably missed this turn! Many people miss this turn off of 71 and onto 148. Do not go west of Maryville...if you do, you will end up in Clarinda instead of Bedford.
  • When you reach the Iowa state line, go ahead and go on north into Iowa about 3.75 miles.
  • Turn right (east) on 300th St, a gravel road.
  • Go east on that road. Right after you see a small cemetery on the north/left, you will see our ranch-style house on the south/right.
  • Just east/past the house is Lexington Ct. Turn south/right and go to the first drive. Turn right/west on that drive and pass the barns to the house.
  • If you come to a stop sign at an intersection of another paved road and don't see Lexington Ct, you've gone about 1/4th+ mile too far.
  • Please enter through the garage.

If you are coming from the North, East, or West

  • Follow map instructions to reach Bedford, Iowa.
  • From Bedford, go south on Highway 148 about 3 miles, to 300th Street.
  • Turn left (east) on 300th Street, which is a gravel road.
  • Go east on that gravel road. Right after you see a small cemetery on the north/left, you will see our ranch-style house on the south/right.
  • Just east/past the house is Lexington Ct. Turn south/right and go to the first drive. Turn right/west on that drive and pass the barns to the house.
  • If you come to a stop sign at an intersection of another paved road and don't see Lexington Ct, you've gone about 1/4th mile too far.
  • Please enter through the garage.
  • ALTERNATIVE ROUTE with less gravel road distance:
You can come south of Bedford on Linwood Avenue to 300th Street.
If you use this route, turn West/right from Linwood Ave onto 300th Street.
Go about 1/2 mile to Lexington Ct.
Turn left onto Lexington Ct and go 100 yards or so, then turn right at the mailbox and follow the driveway to the house.

DO NOT DRIVE ON KENTUCKY AVENUE...it's a mud/dirt road.
